At Deep Roots Ridge we want to promote a love for Agriculture, animals and what the land can do for us, while emphasizing the importance of safety, dedication, discipline, pride in accomplishment and how rewarding and fun farm life can be. We aim to provide a fun, yet educational environment that encourages and supports everyone in what they want to learn and how they want to be part of the Deep Roots Ridge family. Our goal is to inform and educate in a fun, relaxing environment as well as be a place people can come and take a welcome break out of their hectic schedules and reset, and have family memories for years to come. We believe teamwork and passion are the key to achieving our goals and invite you to be a part of our team and join in our passion.
Mike grew up in Virginia until 2003 when he joined the United States Marine Corps where he was stationed in Japan and North Carolina. Danette was born in North Carolina and lived in Arizona and Nevada as well due to her parents being in the Air Force. As fate would have it Danette ended up back in North Carolina and her and Mike met in August of 2008. Danette had Jessica and Mike had Michael Jr. Danette and Mike became instant best friends and have been together 13 years now. Together they lived in NC, VA and in AZ. Megan joined the family in 2012 so they now had a Yours Mine and Ours. They lived in AZ from 2012 to 2019 while Mike and Danette were both in school, Mike for Environmental Science and Danette for Psychology with a focus on Child and Family Services. In 2019 they moved to East Tennessee to plant their roots and make a home for their family. They found Deep Roots Ridge in July of 2020 with the help of their amazing and patient realtor Brisco Woods and closed on the property in November of 2020. They share part of the property with Danettes' parents and have loved becoming a part of the Harrogate/Cumberland Gap community. The history and scenery that surrounds them is something they love to share with their kids and look forward to sharing it with those who come to the farm. As a family they attend Gap Creek Baptist Church. Mike currently drives for England Furniture and Danette is a stay at home mom who also sells Scentsy and crafts. Jessica is 16 and a Junior that attends Cumberland Gap High school where she is involved with theater. Jr is 14 and is an 8th grader who goes to H.Y. Livesay and loves to help his dad with projects around the farm. Megan is 9 and is homeschooled by Danette at Deep Roots Ridge Academy where she does 4-6th grade curriculum and is a member of the Crater City Gems Competitive cheer team.
